Title tags are probably the most significant on page factors in achieving good search engine rankings.Title tag is the one which appears in the clickable link in the Google search page.

A well written title tag will definitely get you a decent clickthroughs.

  1. A good title tag should be around 65 characters including spaces.

  2. A good title tag Should avoid stop words like and, etc & so on.

  3. Try to place the keywords as earliest in the title tag.

  4. while writing title tag with keywords always think about keyword proximity.

  5. If your keyword is San Jose movers use <title>San Jose movers - yourcompany.com <title>San Jose Movers - yourmoneysite.com</title> and avoid <title>Movers San Jose - yourmoneysite</title> movers San Jose - yourcompany.com

    The first title tag is having the keyword place in the exact order. But the second title tag is just altered.

  6. If the main aim of your title tag is branding then you should have something like this      

  7. <title>NFL.com - Official Site of the National Football League</title>
    <title>PUMA. Welcome to the home of SportLifesty</title>

    The examples given above are the exact examples of branding.So if your goal is branding try to analyze some site to are into branding like NBA, NLF, PUMA etc.

  8. Do not repeat a word more that 2 times, this will really hurt your rankings.

  9. If you are using a long tail keyword try to use it one in the title tag(remember keyword proximity)

    Good summary. Perhaps this goes without saying, but there also needs to be a strong correlation between your title and the content on the page. In other words, if your title is "Best Apples In The World", then your content should be speaking about the "Best Apples In The World". :)
